Another secondary school in Kisii county has been rocked yet by a protest over dismal performance in last year’s KCSE results.

Masimba high school in the Masaba South sub-county was temporarily closed by irate parents and members of the local community after obtaining a mean score of 2.10.

This comes as some education stakeholders continue to storm schools that posted poor exam results to harass and intimidate principals even when they were solely not responsible for the performance.

The principal Joel Nyabuti who was not in the school was on the spot as parents accused him of presiding over the declining examination results at the institution.

They petitioned the teachers’ employer to replace the principal and rescue the school from fading into academic oblivion.

Mama Beatrice one of the parents decried the relegation of the school from position 44 to 34, its low mean score, and lack of social utilities including water and electricity.

She demanded the principal’s transfer and closure of the school until the changes had been effected by the education authorities.

Another parent Cliff Ongeri said they had a bone to chew with the school administration following a drop in enrolment from 1,000 to 300.

According to Abel Nyangenya, parents had written complaints to the education ministry over their grievances had gone unanswered and the authorities had instead deployed security officers at the school to harass them.
