2022 General Election: Gubernatorial Race

Kenyans on Tuesday 9th August peacefully made it to the ballot in order to elect their leaders, a democratic right exercised after every five years in line with the constitution.

The gubernatorial race results as of Thursday evening from the 45 counties indicate the following winners except for the Mombasa and Kakamega counties, where IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati suspended the exercise after a mix-up in the ballot paper printing:

Busia County – ODM’s Paul Otuoma got 164,478 votes to clinch the seat.

Homa Bay County – ODM’s Gladys Wanga wins Homa Bay Governor seat with 244,559 votes.

Migori County – ODM’s Ochilo Ayacko wins Migori Governor Seat with 175,226 votes.

Vihiga County– Wilber Ottichilo of the ODM Party has defended his seat with 82,313 votes.

Bomet County– Hilary Barchok has been re-elected as Governor after winning with 158,798.

Bungoma County – First Governor Ken Lusaka (FORD-Kenya) makes comeback with 241,695. 

Kisumu County – Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o was re-elected after garnering 319,957;

West Pokot County – UDA’s Simon Kachapin garnered 86,476 votes.

Uasin Gishu County– Jonathan Bii of UDA wins the Uasin Gishu Governor Seat with 214,036.

Trans Nzoia-Former Regional Commissioner George Natembeya has won after garnering 158,919 votes.

Meru County-Kawira Mwangaza with an independent ticket has won the seat.

Nyamira County-United Progressive Alliance candidate Amos Nyaribo has been re-elected with 82,090 votes.
