Mbeere North MP Leo Wa Muthende has been issued with a seven-day demand letter over allegations that he abetted an armed robbery during the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election. The letter was issued by lawyers representing a complainant who claims to have been attacked during the election period.
The complainant is demanding the return of an iPhone 17 Pro Max allegedly taken during the incident and wants the legislator to provide details of police officers and other individuals accused of being involved in the alleged operation.
According to the demand letter, the complainant accuses Wa Muthende of allegedly facilitating the actions of armed individuals during the by-election. The allegations remain claims and have not been proven in court.
The lawyers have warned that failure to meet the demands within seven days will result in further legal action against the MP and any other persons linked to the allegations.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen directed security agencies to investigate reports of violence and establish the circumstances surrounding the incidents witnessed during the by-election.
The government has maintained that allegations of assault, robbery and other offences should be handled through investigations and the judicial process based on evidence.
The complainant’s demand also seeks accountability from officers allegedly involved, including disclosure of their identities and the circumstances under which the alleged incident occurred.
No criminal charges have publicly been filed against Wa Muthende over the allegations contained in the demand letter, and the claims remain subject to investigation and possible legal proceedings.
The Ol Kalou by-election attracted national attention after reports of confrontations and accusations of political intimidation, prompting calls for thorough investigations into the events surrounding the contest.
