Police Probe Death Of Prison Warder Found At Sotik Home

Police have launched investigations into the death of a female prison warder who was found dead at her residence in Kinyelwet Village, Kipsonoi Ward, Sotik Sub-County, Bomet County. The officer, who was attached to Murang'a GK Prison, was discovered on Thursday, prompting detectives to open a murder investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
Bomet County Police Commander Sammy Choge confirmed the incident and said preliminary investigations point to a suspected love triangle as one of the possible motives. He said detectives are pursuing several leads while working to establish the events that led to the officer's death.
Police officers responded to the scene after receiving reports of the incident and immediately secured the area to preserve evidence. Crime scene investigators documented the scene and collected forensic exhibits that are expected to assist in identifying those responsible.
Investigators from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have since joined officers from Sotik Police Station in reconstructing the deceased's final movements and identifying people who interacted with her before she was found dead.
The body was moved to a mortuary pending a post-mortem examination, which will determine the exact cause of death and provide further forensic evidence to support the ongoing investigation.
Police have not announced any arrests in connection with the case. Detectives are recording witness statements, analysing forensic evidence and reviewing all available information before making any conclusions.
Commander Choge appealed to members of the public with information that could assist investigators to report to the nearest police station or directly to detectives handling the case. He assured residents that every lead would be thoroughly investigated.
The incident adds to a series of homicide investigations reported in recent weeks across the country, with police continuing to urge the public to resolve domestic and relationship disputes peacefully while allowing investigators to establish the facts surrounding suspicious deaths.
