    October 24th commemorates the United Nations Day. This day marks the anniversary of the entry into force in 1945 of the UN charter. It is also a reflection on the impact that the United Nations has had over the years.

    This special day celebrates the efforts of the UN and seeks to raise public awareness about the global issues present in our modern world.

    The United Nations organization was founded in 1945-currently having 193 member states .It is considered a symbol of hope for global unity as it brings together different nations.

    The UN website states that the United Nations is” One place where the world’s nations can gather together, discuss common problems, and find shared solutions.”

    The 2022 theme for the United Nations day is “End racism. Build peace.” The UN invites people to join their efforts as they work towards a world free of racism and racial discrimination.

    Following World War II destruction, the United Nations was established to prevent any future wars with such crippling effects.

    On April 25, 50 governments gathered in San Francisco to begin drafting the UN Charter. It was adopted on June 25th and officiated on October 24th.

    United Nations Day was made a holiday in 1948 after the signing of the Charter in 1945.

    As a way of celebrating this day, People from all over the world come together and celebrate with a number of different activities. In some places gatherings where people come together and share meals and spread happiness are organized.

    Other people however choose to commemorate this day by offering voluntary work to organizations that are working for humanitarian aid.

    Observation of the UN day every year offers the opportunity to amplify the nation’s common agenda and reaffirm the purposes and principles of the UN Charter that have guided the different states over the years.
