Regional Commissioner Urges Public Servants to Prioritize Service Delivery
Rift Valley Regional Commissioner, Dr. Abdi Hassan, has called on public servants to focus on service delivery aligned with the government's established policies. Emphasizing the need to move the country forward, Dr. Hassan stressed that civil servants have a collective responsibility to meet taxpayers' expectations, regardless of any political affiliations.
Speaking during the inauguration of the National Government Development Regional Implementation Coordination and Management Committee (NGD-RICMC) in Nakuru, Dr. Hassan highlighted the critical role of public service in fulfilling the state's mandate and the aspirations of the people
He asserted that an efficient, professional, and results-oriented public service is essential for any government and country. He reminded public servants that they are the backbone of the government and encouraged them to provide improved service delivery.
Accountability and service delivery were deemed citizens' rights by the Regional Commissioner. He emphasized that all institutions responsible for effective and efficient service should not disappoint Kenyans.
Dr. Hassan urged citizens not to engage in bribery and to report those involved in corrupt practices. He underlined that collective efforts are crucial in building a resilient and transparent public sector. In alignment with the government's commitment to transparency and accountability, the Regional Commissioner assured that Kenya Kwanza leaders are ready to adhere to these principles in their actions.
Mr. Sitati Olando, Rift Valley Regional Head of Government Delivery Services, echoed the importance of transparency and accountability in leadership. He called for unity among leaders to focus on socio-economic development and strengthen governance systems.
To promote transparency, the government has taken positive steps, such as the Companies (Beneficial Ownership Information) (Amendment) Regulations 2022, which require parties to provide beneficial ownership information in public procurement, asset disposal, and public-private partnerships (PPPs). These measures aim to cultivate an environment that discourages corruption at all levels."
