Presidential Debate Set For July 26

The Presidential Debate will take place on Tuesday, July 26, according to the Presidential Debates Secretariat.

The third and final debate will be moderated by Yvonne Okwara of Citizen TV, Smriti Vidyarthi and Joe Ageyo of NTV, Ken Mijungu of KTN, Eric Latiff of Spice FM, and KTN News in preparation for the general election on August 9, 2022.

The Presidential Debates Secretariat announced on Thursday that the five would moderate the debate in which Prof. George Wajackoyah of the Roots Party, Raila Odinga of Azimio La Umoja, David Mwaure of the Agano Party, and William Ruto of Kenya Kwanza would outline their plans for the nation if they were to win the August 9 election.

The director of the Presidential Debates Secretariat, Clifford Machoka, released a statement that read, "The 2022 Presidential Debate will take place at the Catholic University for Eastern Africa (CUEA) main campus in Karen, Nairobi, from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm."

The discussion which will be streamed by all interested media houses will be split into two tiers, the first for candidates with approval ratings under 5% and the second for those with approval ratings of 5% and higher.

Ms. Vidyarthi and Mr. Mijungu will moderate the first debate, which will feature candidates who scored less than 5% in three previous surveys.

The second debate, which will feature candidates who have received more than 5% in three recent polls, will be moderated by Yvonne Okwara of Citizen TV and Eric Latiff of Spice FM and KTN News.

Panel discussions for both debates will be moderated by Joe Ageyo of NTV.
