Persons With Albinism urged to go for early Skin Cancer Screening

Persons with Albinism in Kakamega have been asked to go for frequent skin cancer screening for early treatment and management in case the disease is detected.

Speaking at the Kakamega General Hospital, The County Coordinator for National Council for Persons with Disabilities Priscah Akoth said, some who were diagnosed with the disease have been cured after receiving treatment.

She was speaking during an exercise to distribute sunscreen lotions to Persons with Albinism to protect them from Sunburns caused by the sun’s rays.

She said the council has already identified one other person with Albinism who has been detected with skin cancer and is yet to commence treatment.
