EPRA Reduces Fuel Prices For April -May 2024
The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has published the fuel prices effective from Monday, April 15 to Tuesday, May 14.
EPRA stated that Diesel prices have been reduced by Ksh10 per litre, aligning with President William Ruto's pledge of a Ksh10 fuel price cut. Notably, Kerosene saw the most significant decline at Ksh18.68 per litre, while Super Petrol decreased by Ksh5.31 per litre.
"In compliance with Section 101(y) of the Petroleum Act 2019 and Legal Notice No.192 of 2022, we have computed the maximum retail prices for petroleum products applicable from April 15, 2024, to May 14, 2024.
"During this review period, the maximum permissible pump prices for Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene have decreased by KShs.5.31 per litre, KShs.10.00 per litre, and KShs.18.68 per litre respectively," the statement noted.
Under the new rates, motorists in Nairobi will pay Ksh193.84 for petrol, Ksh180.38 for diesel, and Ksh170.06 for kerosene. Previously, from March 15 to April 14, 2024, Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene were priced at Ksh199.15, Ksh190.38, and Ksh188.74, inclusive of the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT) as per the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2020, and the revised excise duty rates adjusted for inflation under Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020.
