Nyambaria national school from Nyamira county which was the top countrywide in last year’s KCSE results has strongly defended its sterling performance.

This comes as some stakeholders continued to raise suspicions over the form four national examination outcome in larger Gusii region where schools excelled compared to previous years.

Speaking to the media at the school, the Board of Management(BOM) strongly denied any alleged malpractices by the candidates or administration.

The BOM Chairman Lazarus Okioma explained education authorities and the national examination body made regular visits to the institution when the  KCSE was being conducted and should have detected any irregularity.

He attributed the performance to the sound organization of the teaching staff and candidates led by the principal and maximum support from the BOM.

The fit was not a surprise, he quipped, for it was anticipated adding perhaps it shocked many because the school led nationally.

He regretted that critics were describing the school as ‘’little known’’ yet it was in the national category.

Charles Nyandusi, the chairman county education Board clarified it was not the first time the school had excelled in the exam.

According to him, the school had risen from a mean score of 8.01 in 2019 to the current one of 10.8 in 2022.

Okioma challenged the ‘’doubting Thomases’’ to check with the Kenya National Examination Council Quality Assurance department to allay their fears.
