Murkomen: Security Agencies On High Alert Ahead Of Sabasaba

BY BARAKA SIMBA
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has assured Kenyans that the government is fully committed to safeguarding lives and property as the country prepares for Sabasaba Day protests.
Speaking after attending a Thanksgiving Mass at St. Augustine Mwanika Catholic Church in Athwana, Tigania West, Meru County, Murkomen took to his official social media handles to issue a firm statement on national security and constitutional rights.
He noted that the government respects the rights of Kenyans to express themselves peacefully.
"We are fully committed to protecting the lives and property of all Kenyans, even as some exercise their rights to demonstrate, picket, and petition public authorities—rights that are rightfully enshrined in our Constitution."
However, the Cabinet Secretary warned that security forces would not hesitate to take action against individuals who exploit such gatherings to cause unrest.
"Our security agencies are on high alert to deal decisively with criminals and other elements of ill intent who may seek to infiltrate peaceful processions to cause havoc, mayhem, or destruction of property," he cautioned.
His statement comes just a day before Sabasaba Day, historically associated with calls for political reforms, civil liberties, and public accountability.
