Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has issued a strongly worded warning to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of fueling political tension, spreading allegations of violence, and engaging in conduct he says threatens national security.

Murkomen said his office will closely monitor Gachagua’s activities up to the 2027 election period, insisting that any actions perceived to promote violence or division will be treated as a security concern.

“My business now until Kenya crosses 2027 safely is to monitor your activities, your violent activities in the Republic of Kenya,” Murkomen said, adding that Gachagua had become “a single most point of focus” due to alleged threats to stability.

He accused the former Deputy President of promoting fear and blackmail, further alleging involvement in political intimidation and mobilization of groups linked to violence.

“You are the father of violence in the Republic of Kenya… you are instilling fear and violence, naming Kenyans and blackmailing them,” Murkomen stated.

Murkomen further claimed that Gachagua had been collecting money from political aspirants and using influence to intimidate candidates seeking elective positions.

“I know that Mr. Gachagua, you have been collecting money from potential aspirants, intimidating some of them, promising them certificates,” he said.

He also alleged that the former Deputy President had been exploiting ethnic networks to influence voting patterns and political outcomes in certain regions.

“You are trying to collect money from aspirants by force… you are using them to prepare goons,” Murkomen added.

The Interior CS further accused Gachagua of targeting business owners who refuse to support political activities financially, claims that have not been independently verified.

“We know that you are intimidating businesses… harassing them, using goons and criminals and gangs,” he said.

Murkomen warned that the government would not tolerate any form of political violence or intimidation, insisting that security agencies were actively tracking such activities.

“We are monitoring your activities every minute… that must come to an end,” he stated.

He emphasized that his approach would be strict against individuals linked to criminal activity, while lawful citizens would be treated without hostility.

“When it comes to good citizens… I will be as gentle as a dove,” Murkomen said, contrasting this with what he termed “criminals and planners of violence.”

Murkomen also rejected accusations leveled against him by Gachagua, including claims of political intimidation, insisting he operates strictly within the law.

“We will deal with you perpendicularly… and that dealing with you will still be under the law,” he said.

He concluded by warning against attempts to destabilize national unity, urging leaders to focus on governance rather than political confrontation.

“This country must be kept safe… we will ensure Kenya is secure for every citizen to walk to every part of Kenya,” Murkomen stated.
