South Pokot MP David Pkosing has announced his intention to take the lead in gathering signatures through civil disobedience as part of an effort to ouster President William Ruto from power.

Pkosing, who is a member of the Kenya Union Party [KUP] and the bipartisan committee panel of Azimio, stated that he is actively engaged in grassroots mobilization, establishing networks, and making preparations for a signature campaign and large-scale demonstrations.

While addressing the press conference in Kapenguria, the former ally of President Ruto emphasized that Kenyans are feeling angry and dissatisfied with the promises made by the Kenya Kwanza government. He also confirmed that he will take part in the anti-government protests that Azimio has planned.

“Kenyans are angry and dissatisfied with the promises made by the Kenya Kwanza government and I want to confirm that we shall be holding mega rallies here,” he stated.

The MP, who openly admitted to voting 'NO' on the controversial Finance Bill, expressed his opposition to the government's failure to enhance security in the Kerio Valley region.

Additionally, Pkosing said that the government has consistently made empty promises and has been unsuccessful in addressing the issue of insecurity in the area.

The opposition leader, Raila Odinga launched the campaign last Friday where he said that they are targeting to collect 10m signatures by this week.

"I, Raila Amollo Odinga will start with a signature here today. You will also get the papers to sign so that by next week we have 10 million. The people have started the process of taking back the power given to others to represent them. We have to know how many we are and that's why we have begun collecting signatures, "the Azimio party leader said.
