Morocco Crowned African Nations Championship Winners After Beating Madagascar

Morocco edged Madagascar 3-2 in a thrilling African Nations Championship final on 30 August 2025. The contest, played as a single-leg knockout, saw momentum swing both ways before Morocco sealed victory late on.
Madagascar struck first in the 9th minute when F. Mantasoa finished off a move assisted by N. Razafimahtana. Morocco responded through Y. Mehri, who equalized in the 27th minute, and Oussama Lamlioui put them ahead just before halftime with a 44th-minute strike.
The Malagasy side fought back after the break, with T. Rakotondraibe leveling the score at 2-2 in the 68th minute. However, Morocco regained control when Lamlioui scored his second goal of the night in the 80th minute, which ultimately proved decisive.
Lamlioui’s brace earned him the Player of the Match award, while Madagascar’s T. Rakotondraibe and N. Randriamanampisoa impressed despite the defeat. Morocco’s triumph confirmed them as champions, extending their strong record in the competition.
