Kisii governor Simba Arati has challenged county executive committee members(CECM) to live up to the electorate’s expectations and his manifesto through the unconditional execution of their mandate.

Speaking during the swearing-in of the county ‘ministers’ the governor reminded them that their job was clear cut in the constitution urging them to embrace collective responsibility, accountability, and sacrifice.

Arati singled out health and agriculture dockets which he stressed their transformation by improving the distribution of medicines and coffee production.

He called for the mobilization of youths into SACCOs on agricultural activities for enhanced agribusiness production and employment creation.

Intriguingly, the CECM candidate for the Agriculture docket, Beatrice Mong’ina, was conspicuously absent after she had been rejected by the Appointments Committee and county assembly plenary.

The governor defended his appointment of the ‘ministers’, claiming it was done in adherence to constitutional provisions on affirmative action and regional balance.
