Five lives were lost in a gristly road accident at Amabuko along Kisii-Keroka highway on Sunday.
Five others were rushed to hospitals in the area for emergency medical attention.
The deceased, three adults and two minors, included a student at Maranda high school who was travelling home.
Masaba North Sub county Police Commander, Robert Ndambiri confirmed the incident saying it occurred when a Public Service Vehicle heading to Keroka town tried to over take a motorcyclist and collided with an on-coming trailer.
Bodies of the victims were moved to Gucha hospital mortuary in Keroka town.
The OCPD urged drivers using the section of the road to reduce speed and be observant owing to the heavy rains pounding the area and number of accidents witnessed.
