"It's Game On," President Ruto's Daughter Vows To Advance KSL Course
Charlene Ruto, President William Ruto's daughter has vowed to advance her Kenyan Sign Language course.
This is after successfully graduating with a certificate in basic Kenyan Sign Language (KSL) in three months of study.
"After 3 months of studying Kenyan Sign Language (popularly known as KSL) as a basic course, I finally graduated with my certificate.
I couldn't be more proud of me!" she wrote.
Taking on her Facebook page to share the news, the first daughter said she was inspired to learn KSL after meeting Babelyn Mukila earlier this year.
According to Charlene, Mukila communicated with her purely through KSL, which sparked her interest in the language and the deaf community.
She said that learning KSL was a challenging but rewarding experience that has helped her develop a new appreciation for the deaf community.
"Learning KSL exercised a part of my brain I never knew I had before, tested my patience and discipline, and stretched me," she wrote.
The recent KSL graduate expressed her gratitude to her teacher, Rosemary Indeche, and other deaf youth who she says helped her during her KSL study.
Miss Ruto's achievement in graduating from a KSL course during Deaf Awareness Month is an inspiration to others who may be interested in learning the language despite their hearing status.
