Inua Jamii beneficiaries will soon start receiving their stipends from M-PESA agents in their local areas, President William Ruto has announced.

"Working with Safaricom, we have structured a new delivery mechanism for beneficiaries to receive their stipends from MPESA agents in their localities,” said President Ruto.

According to the head of state, the move will save beneficiaries the cost and inconvenience of traveling long distances to receive cash.

“This programme has had challenges with the beneficiaries traveling long distances and spending considerable portions of their stipend on logistics,” said President Ruto.

Speaking during the Jamhuri Day celebrations at Uhuru Gardens on December 12, 2023, President Ruto specified that orphans and individuals with severe disabilities will be the first to receive assistance through the new program, with the rollout starting this month. The elderly will begin receiving support in January 2024.

He further stated that the newly enrolled beneficiaries will start receiving their stipends in March next year after verification, adding that an additional Ksh.2 billion has been allocated.

“We have allocated an additional KSh.2 billion for newly enrolled beneficiaries who are undergoing verification and will begin to receive their stipends beginning March next year,” he asserted.
