The government is set to establish two universities at Konza Technopolis, as part of its flagship projects. One of them is the Kenya National Open University, scheduled to open by September this year. The aim of this virtual university is to improve access to affordable higher education for all students, regardless of their location or income levels.

In addition to that, the government is also in the advanced stages of operationalizing the Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Kenya-AIST) at Konza Technopolis. This institute, which is currently under construction, will have a national strategic mission focused on offering postgraduate programs in advanced science and technology.

Furthermore, the Ministry, in collaboration with Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, plans to provide 23,000 digital devices for training purposes. So far, 8,159 digital devices have already been supplied to 112 institutions.

The Information, Communications, and Digital Economy CS, Eliud Owalo, announced that the Ministry has successfully connected 109,000 youth from the Ajira program to digital jobs. This includes placements in business process outsourcing companies located in various regions across Kenya.

Moreover, the Ministry has trained a total of 336,000 youth under the Ajira Digital Programme, establishing 74 sustainable Ajira digital clubs as platforms for continuous skill development.

Overall, the Ministry is committed to promoting digital skills and job creation through programs like Ajira and Jitume, aimed at equipping citizens with technical and vocational digital education for digitally enabled jobs.
