Government Builds Over 14,000 Classrooms for Junior Secondary Schools
In the last three months, the government has built more than 14,000 classrooms nationwide to accommodate pupils moving from elementary to junior secondary schools (JSSs). This according to Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba.
In a speech at Uthiru Primary School on Tuesday, the CS stated that 14,500 of the 16,000 classrooms needed for Grade 9 pupils are ready.
According to Ogamba, his ministry intends to establish 1,600 science labs in junior secondary schools.
The minister claims that more than 9.9 million textbooks have been produced in order to overcome the scarcity that has been observed since the competency-based curriculum (CBC) and JSSs were implemented in January 2023.
