Gor, AFC Leopards gifted after Mashemeji Derby

The Sunday 8th May, 94th edition of the Mashemeji derby was the highlight of what was an action packed weekend in the Nairobi Capital.

Fans thronged Moi International Sports Center Kasarani, to witness yet another mouthwatering derby and H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta alongside Azimio la Umoja Presidential candidate Raila Odinga could not be left behind.

In what could be said to be part of sports and talent development, ODM party leader revealed each of the teams will get Sh2 million that will go to the players adding the President has also given a further Sh20 million that will be shared equally by both clubs to help them cater for their remaining fixtures.

Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, brought the matter to light while addressing fans who had gathered outside the Moi Stadium Kasarani after the Mashemeji derby between AFC Leopards against Gor Mahia.

Raila also said there are laid out plans to hire and bring in professional coaches who will be tasked with nurturing local talents hence raising football standards to international levels, singling out Victor Wanyama.

Gor Mahia stretched their dominance over rivals AFC Leopards to six years, after a second half goal levelled the score line to 1-1 in an FKF Premier League fixture at Kasarani Stadium.
