France got the better of Morocco ending their World Cup dream as goals from Theo Hernandez and Randal Kolo Muani gave Le Bleus a 2-0 win in their semi-final clash, setting up a showdown with Argentina.

The current holders went ahead through Hernandez, who scored within five minutes of play at Al Bayt Stadium before substitute Kolo Muani sealed victory for France with a late second.

Morocco’s resilience and hard work caused problems for Didier Deschamps’s charges but were not enough to peg back the 2018 champions who can attribute their victory to the team effort.

France will be hoping to become the first team to retain the trophy since Brazil did so 60 years ago, despite this being their fourth World Cup final in seven editions with Argentina registering six times.

France and Argentina battle it out in the final on Sunday at Lusail Stadium, with Morocco- the first African and Arab team ever to reach the last four at a World Cup- clashing with Croatia for the Third place playoff on Saturday at the Khalifa international stadium.
