EACC arrests Kiambu Governor Wamatangi for Alleged Fraud.
Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives have arrested Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi on allegations of corruption.
The governor was apprehended on Tuesday morning following raids conducted at his private residence and county government offices.
In a coordinated operation, EACC also arrested nine other senior officials within the Kiambu County administration. According to the anti-graft body, these arrests are connected to ongoing investigations into the alleged embezzlement of public funds and conflict of interest in procurement processes within the county.
During the raids, the EACC detectives confiscated various documents and electronic devices believed to hold crucial information relevant to their investigation.
EACC Chief Executive Officer Abdi Mohamud is expected to issue an official statement later today to provide further details on the arrests and the ongoing investigation. The apprehension of the governor and top county officials marks a significant development in the fight against corruption in the country.
