CS Amina appoints a Transition Committee.
The Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed has appointed a transition committee to run the affairs of Kenyan football for a period of five weeks.
The body takes over the authority to manage the country’s game following the end of the mandate of the caretaker committee that was formed last year for a similar purpose.
The caretaker committee was set up by the Cabinet Secretary in November last year after she disbanded Football Kenya Federation (FKF) over alleged financial irregularities during its tenure.
That committee’s six-month period ended on Tuesday with Amina now creating the transition committee comprised largely of the same personnel led by retired judge Aaron Ringera.
In a gazette notice dated May 13th 2022, the transition Committee shall be able to conduct the affairs of Football Kenya Federation in accordance with the Constitution of Football Kenya Federation and ensure that Football Kenya Federation operates within the provisions of the Sports Act, 2013.
The committee will also co-ordinate and ensure the smooth running of Football Kenya Federation operations, including team preparations for local and international sporting events as well as co-ordinate and facilitate the validation of the draft Constitution of Football Kenya Federation.
