A High Court ruling has temporarily blocked the government's plan to privatize the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC).

Justice Bahati Mwamuye issued an injunction that prevents the government from selling or transferring any shares of KPC. The order will remain in effect until a petition filed by the Consumers Federation of Kenya (COFEK) is heard and decided.

The lawsuit names the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning and the Privatisation Authority, among others, as respondents. COFEK has been ordered to serve all parties with the court documents immediately.

The case is set to be heard in court on September 5, 2025.
