Coolio “Gangsta’s Paradise” Rapper Dies At 59

Artis Leon Ivey  Jr, popularly known as ‘Coolio’, was found dead at a friend’s house in Los Angeles on Wednesday 28th September.

Coolio was born on August 1st, 1963 in Monessen, Pennsylvania. His spouse, Joseph Salinas,  died in 2000.

The rapper has children namely Gritis Ivey, Brandi Ivey, Artisha Ivey, Shayne Ivey, Milan Ivey, Jackie Ivey, Darius Ivey, Kate Ivey, Artis Ivey III, and Zhaneand Ivey.

He was an American rapper, a record producer, and an actor. His music career gained a lot of popularity in the mid to late 1990s.

This was achieved by the release of his albums, ‘It Takes a Thief ‘, ‘Gangsta’s Paradise ‘ and ‘My Soul’. His most popular song is Gangsta’s Paradise released in 1995.

Other songs by the rapper include West Up (1995), Fantastic Voyage(1994), and C u when you get there.

According to Jarez who was his manager, Coolio had visited a friend and he went to the bathroom. He didn’t come out and this made his friend get worried and started calling out to him.

After he went to check on him, he found Coolio lying on the floor. His friend immediately called paramedics who arrived shortly after and reported that he had died.

The cause of his death is still unclear.
