Chelsea have reached an advanced agreement with Atalanta for the signing of Italian right wing-back Marco Palestra, with the transfer package understood to exceed €55 million including add-ons and performance-related bonuses.
The deal also includes a sell-on clause for Atalanta, while club-to-club negotiations are now considered complete pending final documentation.
Inter Milan had been strongly linked with the player for several weeks but were overtaken late in the process after Chelsea improved their financial offer.
