Cabinet Secretary Nominees Vetting Enters Day Two

The vetting of President William Ruto’s 22 Cabinet nominees which kicked off on Monday has today entered the second day.

The exercise which is taking place at the parliament building is being chaired by the Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula.

Five nominees are set to present themselves before the 15-member Committee on Appointments.

The exercise kicked off with Interior and National Administration nominee Prof. Kithure Kindiki who is looking forward to succeed Dr. Fred Matiang’i.

Prof. Kindiki will be followed by National Treasury and Planning cabinet nominee Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u at 10:30 am.

Aisha Jumwa who is the CS nominee for Public Service, Gender, and Affirmative Action will also face the committee, followed by her Energy and Petroleum counterpart Davis Kimutai Chirchir later in the afternoon.

The committee will close the day with Moses Kuria, Trade, Investment Cabinet nominee’s appointment scheduled for 3:30 pm.

The exercise runs through Saturday, October 22, except Thursday, October 20, when the country will observe Mashujaa Day.

The exercise kicked off on Monday with Prime Cabinet nominee Musalia Mudavadi, Justin Muturi, the Attorney General nominee, Defense CS nominee Aden Duale, Dr. Alfred Mutua (Foreign and Diaspora Affairs), and Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Alice Wahome
