The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has warned of continued heavy rainfall across a significant portion of the country until the end of January.

The weatherman attributed the persistent downpour to a cyclone currently swirling in the Indian Ocean, which is directing moisture-laden winds toward the country.

According to the latest forecast, the rain will be most concentrated in the southern half of the country, including the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the South-eastern lowlands, and the Coast region.

Director KMD David Gikungu advised farmers to utilize the rains for agriculture in both crop production and animal husbandry.
