Ugandans have once again reigned in the 10 000m race having clinched 1st and 3rd place in the ongoing Oregon games.

Joshua Cheptegei, aged 25, successfully defended his title, emerging from a wild five-way kick in the home straight to win in 27:27.43.

Olympic bronze medalist Jacob Kiplimo finished third to win the same medal after clocking 27:27.97 behind Kenyan sensation Mburu (silver in 27:27.90), thanks to a 53.42 last lap.

The 22-year-old Stanley Waithaka Mburu beat the odds after clinching the silver medal in the men’s 10,000m final at the World Athletics Championships despite a fall in the first lap.

Mburu etched his name in the books of the Championships history despite taking an early tumble to add to the bronze medal he won at the U-18 Championships in 2017.
