In a highly competitive job market, the path to a fulfilling and financially secure career is increasingly shifting from purely theoretical learning to practical, hands-on expertise.
According to experts from the Sensei Institute of Technology (SiT), Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions are the essential engines that empower individuals and unlock their full job-market potential.
Appearing on the Signs TV Breakfast Show, Abigael Lwangu, Administrator at SiT, emphasized the distinct advantage TVET training provides over conventional academic paths. Her colleague, Israel Odhiambo, Marketing Officer at SiT, echoed this, highlighting the urgent need for sensitization to address the challenges facing the sector.
He noted two major barriers: financial challenges and a widespread wrong mindset that unfortunately associates TVET training with low-class education, despite the high demand for skilled artisans.
