Candidates who failed to sit for the KCPE 2023 exams will be allowed to join Form 1 and do a qualifying exam later, this is according to Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu.

Speaking while releasing the 2023 KCSE results, CS Machogu said following a careful review by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), the number of eligible candidates was low which does not qualify for a national examination.

"The number so far located is small to warrant a national examination, it has been decided that the 2,000 candidates join Form One starting January 15th, 2024, and be allowed to sit qualifying examinations later,” said CS Machogu.

The CS directed the council to make separate arrangements for the learners to sit their qualifying examinations later before they get to Form Three.

“They will however be advised to ensure they sit their qualifying examinations before they join Form Three to enable them to be registered to sit their KCSE when they get to Form Four,” Machogu said.

The CS did not state the criteria that will be used to place the 2,000 learners in form one.
