Mike Sonko daughter Salma Sonko returns home

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko confronted his son-in-law after his daughter, Salma Mbuvi, reported that she had been physically assaulted during a domestic disagreement.

According to Sonko, Salma informed him that her husband had slapped her twice following an argument over preparing breakfast. The incident prompted Sonko to rush to her residence, where the now-viral confrontation took place.

In the video, Sonko is heard angrily demanding an explanation from his son-in-law, questioning why he would assault his daughter despite the support he receives from him. He stated that he pays the couple’s rent, caters for their children’s school fees, and provides food for the household. During the exchange, one of Sonko’s bodyguards is seen slapping the man as tensions escalated.

Sonko later clarified that his reaction stemmed from frustration and concern for his daughter's safety. He insisted that domestic violence cannot be tolerated under any circumstances and emphasized that his daughter did not deserve to be harmed.

He noted that he had been providing financial assistance out of goodwill and expected mutual respect within the young family.

The former governor urged couples facing marital challenges to seek peaceful solutions rather than resorting to violence. He also disclosed that he had taken his daughter away from the home for her safety as investigations into the matter continue.

Sonko maintained that if the allegations are confirmed, further action will be taken to protect his daughter and ensure accountability.
