Senate By-election Kicks Off In Bungoma

Bungoma county Senate by-election has kicked off with most polling stations reporting a low voter turnout.
Speaking on Monday at Bungoma Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) offices, the returning officer Grace Rono said the county tallying center will be at Mabanga Agricultural Training Centre.
The race has attracted 11 contestants with UDA, Ford Kenya, and DAP K each fronting candidates.
The candidates include Wafula Wamunyinyi of the Azimio la Umoja coalition, former Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga running on a UDA ticket, and Wafula Wakoli of Ford Kenya.
The by-elections follow former Senator Moses Wetangula's election as the speaker of the National Assembly on September 8, 2022.
Top leaders who have already cast their votes include Mwambu Mabonga of UDA, Wafula Wamunyinyi of Azimio la Umoja, and Senator Moses Wetangula.
The electoral body is also holding five other by-elections in Narok, Kitui, Nairobi City, Kakamega, and Siaya County Assemblies for Ololmasani, Kyome/Thaana, Utawala, and Mumias North and South Gem Wards.
