Samia Suluhu: Police With Big Bellies To Undergo Training
Tanzania President Samia Suluhu now says police officers with big bellies have to undergo training to lose excess fats and be fit for the job.
Speaking during the conclusion of the training of officers in Boma Kichaka Miba, in Tanga, Suluhu said losing weight will enable the officers to perform their duties swiftly.
Tanzania's head of state says she was unimpressed during the event with the way long-serving police officers with pot bellies marched.
This comes months after Tanzania’s first female president, recently sacked the country’s Inspector General of Police, and redeployed him as an ambassador to Zimbabwe.
This was later followed by Suluhu swearing in Camillus Wambura as the new IGP at Chamwino State House in Dodoma.
Since taking office in March 2021, following the sudden death of president John Pombe Magufuli, Suluhu has been at the forefront of making police reforms in the country.
She is set to serve as Head of State until 2025 and the country’s constitution allows her to contest for a second term.
