The Public Service Commission (PSC) has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting disability inclusion in Kenya's public sector. The statement was delivered by Commissioner Harun Hassan on July 29, 2025, during the official launch of the Persons with Disabilities National Policy at Sarova Hotel, Nairobi.

Hassan, who represented PSC Chairperson Amb. Anthony Muchiri, noted that while Kenya as a whole is still striving to meet the constitutional requirement of 5% representation for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), the PSC Secretariat has already surpassed this mark with a current rate of 5.8%.

Principal Secretary for Social Protection Joseph Motari highlighted the government's ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening disability rights. He pointed to the recently enacted Persons with Disabilities Act and the new national policy as key tools for promoting fairness in employment, education, healthcare, and legal access.

Motari also emphasized the reach of the Inua Jamii Cash Transfer Programme, which supports over 1.7 million vulnerable Kenyans, including many PWDs. He described the initiative as a direct link between social protection and empowerment.

Commissioner Hassan called on public institutions to take full responsibility for implementing the policy, noting that.
