President Ruto Reaffirms Commitment To Settle Land Issues In Coastal Kenya

President William Ruto has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to transforming the Coastal Region through strategic interventions in agriculture, the blue economy, and the maritime sector.
Speaking after a high-level meeting with leaders from Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, and Taita Taveta Counties at State House, Nairobi, the President emphasized that addressing long-standing historical injustices, especially land-related issues, remains a top priority.
“For too long, the people of the Coast have suffered from unresolved land injustices and the squatter problem,” the President said. “We are determined to resolve these issues once and for all by fast-tracking the issuance of title deeds and ensuring that every resident has legal ownership of their land.”
President Ruto noted that solving the land problem is not just a matter of justice but a crucial step towards unlocking economic potential in the region. With land tenure security, communities can invest confidently in agriculture and other income-generating activities.
He also highlighted progress in harnessing the blue economy and enhancing the maritime sector, key pillars in the region’s development. These efforts, the President said, are aimed at creating jobs, improving livelihoods, and fostering sustainable economic growth in Coastal Kenya.
