President William Ruto has officially commenced a crucial four-day development tour of the Ukambani region.

The extensive itinerary covers Makueni, Kitui, and Machakos counties, focusing on fast-tracking infrastructure, housing, and other core projects aligned with his administration’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

This long-anticipated tour had been postponed several times before finally taking place this week.

The tour began in Makueni County, where the Head of State immediately launched significant infrastructure projects. These included the official commissioning of the Kasikeu and Mikuyu Bridges in Kilome Constituency, vital crossings designed to enhance regional connectivity and local trade.

Furthermore, the President presided over the launch of the tarmacking of the Emali-Ukia Road in Kibwezi West, a project expected to ease transport and spur business activity.

His activities in Makueni also involved the symbolic issuance of 2,140 title deeds to residents of Kasikeu, thereby regularizing land ownership and unlocking the economic potential of their parcels.

The tour's agenda shifts to Kitui County on Thursday, where the President is expected to preside over several engagements, notably the commissioning of the Ithookwe Stadium and the Kitui Airstrip in Kitui Central, marking a significant boost for sports and regional air travel.

On Friday, the focus will move to Machakos County. Key launches there include the Kangundo–Mwala Road and the commissioning of the Kivandini–Miseleni Road.

The Machakos visit will conclude with the official opening of the Machakos Affordable Housing Project, furthering the government’s national housing agenda.

The entire four-day tour is set to conclude on Saturday with a leaders’ meeting to evaluate development progress and chart future priorities for the three counties
