President Ruto Confers Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart on Late PM Raila Odinga

President William Ruto has conferred the Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart (C.G.H.), Kenya’s highest national honor, upon the late former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga.
The conferment was formalized in a gazette notice dated October 20, 2025. The notice confirmed the First Class C.G.H. honor, recognizing Mr. Odinga for his exemplary courage, endurance, dedication, unwavering commitment to the ideals of democracy and good governance, sacrifice, Pan-Africanism, and faithful service to all of humanity.
Addressing Kenyans at Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui, President Ruto recognized the former Prime Minister for his profound contributions to nation-building and his enduring legacy.
“On behalf of a grateful nation, and through the authority vested in me as President, I have today posthumously conferred upon the Right Honourable Raila Amolo Odinga the highest honor of the Republic, the Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya (C.G.H.),” Ruto stated.
The President emphasized the significance of the honor, adding, “The government and people of Kenya inscribe Hon. Raila Odinga’s name among the foremost of our heroes, under the public seal of the Republic.”
The Head of State further described the former Prime Minister as a “towering patriot and hero for the ages.”
