Police in Kirinyaga County have launched a manhunt for a middle-aged woman suspected of fatally stabbing her lover over a Sh60 debt during Christmas celebrations in Ndia Sub-County. The shocking incident occurred at Muragara Shopping Centre, leaving the local community in disbelief over the seemingly trivial dispute that turned deadly.
The victim, 52-year-old Peter Mwangi Wanyeki, was reportedly celebrating Christmas at a local bar when a heated argument over the small debt escalated. Witnesses say the quarrel turned physical, and the woman allegedly stabbed him in the chest, killing him instantly. Eyewitnesses described the scene as horrifying, with the victim lying in a pool of blood as bystanders rushed to call for help.
According to police reports, the suspect, identified as Edith Muthoni, fled the scene immediately after the attack. Investigators are actively following leads to track her down, urging the public to provide any information that could assist in her arrest. Authorities have emphasized the urgency of apprehending the suspect to prevent further incidents.
The victim’s body has since been taken to a local mortuary as detectives carry out a thorough investigation. The case has raised concerns about domestic disputes escalating into violence over minor disagreements.
