Persons With Physical Disabilities To Benefit From New Music Studio
A Group of artists has taken initiative to identify and nurture music talents in the larger Gusii region through the establishment of a recording studio.
The ‘’Uplifted Records’’ studio, launched at Nyangena in the outskirts of Kisii town along Kisii-Suneka road will target vulnerable and gospel music artists with physical disabilities.
Besides using gospel music to spread positive values in society, the artists will also earn income for self-employment and advancement.
Rosemary Buyaki, Managing Director of Uplifted Records, decried the lack of financial resources for musicians from the region to nurture their talents and expose themselves to national recognition.
According to Buyaki, the talent for gospel music was not fully tapped in the area and challenged the County Government Culture docket to draw a budget for the same.
Former NEMA director, Samuel Nyangeso lauded the group’s move saying it will go a long way in uplifting musicians who could not afford to record their works.
Nyangeso challenged the elected leadership and was well-endowed in the region to contribute towards the establishment of such studios to engage the youth in productive activities.
He commended President William Ruto for agreeing to hold bi-partisan talks with opposition leader Raila Odinga for the sake of the country’s peace and stability.
