The Kenya Meteorological Department has projected continued rainfall across several parts of the country in its latest weekly weather outlook covering April 14 to 20, 2026. The update signals sustained wet conditions as the long rains season progresses.

According to the forecast, precipitation is expected over the Highlands east and west of the Rift Valley, areas that typically experience prolonged rainfall during this period. The South Rift is also among the regions likely to receive periodic showers.

The coastal region is included in the outlook, with meteorologists indicating that rainfall activity is expected to vary in intensity over the week. Northeastern Kenya, which often experiences more erratic weather patterns, is also projected to receive rainfall during the period.

Parts of the southeastern lowlands have also been highlighted in the forecast, suggesting a broader spread of wet conditions compared to earlier weeks in the season. However, rainfall distribution is expected to remain uneven across affected areas.

Weather experts note that while some regions may experience steady and sustained showers, others are likely to receive isolated thunderstorms and brief rain spells. Highland and Rift Valley zones are expected to record the most consistent activity.

The department maintains that the current pattern aligns with the ongoing March to May long rains season, which typically peaks in April before gradually tapering off later in the period. Residents in flood-prone areas have been urged to remain alert as rainfall intensifies in some regions.
