Nashon Odhiambo Kondiwa who has been appointment as the new Director General of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has appointed Nashon Kondiwa as its new Director General for a three-year term effective February 17, 2026. The appointment was confirmed by the authority’s Board of Directors following consultations with the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport.

Kondiwa assumes leadership at a pivotal moment for the road transport regulator, which is implementing reforms aimed at strengthening enforcement, improving service delivery and enhancing road safety outcomes across the country.

Prior to his appointment, Kondiwa served as NTSA’s Deputy Director in charge of Information Communication Technology, where he spearheaded digital transformation initiatives within the agency. His professional background spans more than two decades in ICT, innovation, intelligent transport systems and public sector leadership.

The board expressed confidence in his capacity to drive operational efficiency and deepen institutional reforms, citing his institutional knowledge and experience in modernising transport management systems.

Kondiwa takes over from the outgoing substantive director general after an interim leadership period. His three-year contract aligns with governance frameworks guiding state corporations.

NTSA is mandated to regulate road transport operations in Kenya, including vehicle registration and licensing, driver testing and certification, enforcement of traffic regulations and implementation of national road safety strategies.

As Director General, Kondiwa will serve as the chief executive officer and secretary to the board, overseeing policy implementation, administrative oversight and execution of the authority’s strategic objectives.
