Napoli won the Serie A title after 33 years as they drew 1-1 with Udinese at Dacia Arena, with a record breaking five games to spare and a 16-point advantage over second-placed Lazio.

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen smashed in a 52nd-minute equaliser after Sandi Lovric had given Udinese a quick deserving lead in the first half.

“Seeing Neapolitans happy is enough to give you a sense of that joy they are feeling,” Napoli head coach Luciano Spalletti told DAZN.

“These people will look to this moment when life gets hard, they have every right to celebrate like this. You feel a bit more relaxed knowing that you’ve given them this moment of happiness.’’

Forward Victor Osimhen who has scored 21 goals in 26 league games described the victory as one to never forget.

‘It is an amazing feeling, we have waited so many years for this moment,” Osimhen told DAZN.

“To be able to deliver the Scudetto to the Neapolitans is something that we will never forget in a hurry and will continue to live in our hearts for the rest of our lives.”

Boss Luciano Spalletti, who twice won the Coppa Italia with Roma, becomes the oldest manager to win Serie A.

Napoli have won the Coppa Italia three times in the past 11 seasons but it is the Scudetto the team craved.

Napoli’s previous two titles came in the days of Argentina legend Maradona back in 1987 and 1990.
