Chelsea Ukraine winger Mykhailo Mudryk

Mykhailo Mudryk, the Chelsea winger, has been spotted training at semi-professional side Uxbridge FC, raising eyebrows across the football community. The 25-year-old Ukrainian has been absent from competitive action since late 2024 due to a provisional suspension linked to an anti-doping investigation.

Footage circulated online shows Mudryk performing individual drills and shooting practice on Uxbridge’s artificial pitch. While the images suggest a return to football, sources confirm he is not officially part of the club. Instead, his representatives arranged private access to maintain his fitness.

The winger’s suspension originates from a positive doping test in December 2024, with authorities detecting meldonium, a substance banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency. The Football Association has charged Mudryk with violating anti-doping regulations, restricting him from participating in Chelsea’s activities while the investigation continues.

Mudryk has denied knowingly taking any prohibited substance. His legal team maintains he is cooperating fully with authorities to determine how the substance entered his system. No final timeline for a verdict has been announced, leaving the forward in footballing limbo.

Since joining Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 for a deal potentially worth £89 million, Mudryk has made over 70 appearances and scored 10 goals. His talent has been widely recognized, but the suspension has stalled what promised to be a breakthrough period in his career.

Experts suggest the training at Uxbridge is aimed at keeping Mudryk match-fit should he be cleared to return. While non-league facilities are unusual for a player of his caliber, the arrangement allows him to continue structured workouts under supervision.

If found guilty, Mudryk could face a ban of up to four years. Until a decision is made, the Ukrainian forward is likely to continue his private training regimen while the football world watches closely for updates on his status.
