Moses Kuria has announced his resignation as Senior Advisor to President William Ruto.

In a statement released on Tuesday, July 8, Kuria confirmed that President Ruto had accepted his decision to step down.

"This evening, I met my boss and my friend, President William Ruto. The President has graciously accepted my decision to resign from the government," Kuria stated.

Kuria expressed gratitude to President Ruto for the various opportunities he was given to serve.

He detailed his previous roles, saying, "I thank President Ruto for having given me an opportunity to serve as Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry for 11 months, Public Service, Delivery and Performance Management for 9 months, and Senior Economic Advisor for the last 10 months.”

Moving forward, Kuria indicated he would be "moving on to pursue personal interests." He also highlighted his contribution to the government's economic agenda, asserting, "As I move on to pursue personal interests, I am proud of the work the President and I did to implement the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, which I designed together with the President as our 2022 Electoral Platform."

Kuria's initial significant appointment in the Ruto administration was on September 27, 2022, when he was named Cabinet Secretary for Trade. Following a cabinet reshuffle on October 4, 2023, he was reassigned to lead the Ministry of Public Service, where his responsibilities included overseeing government performance.

Notably, in August 2024, Kuria transitioned from his Cabinet position to serve as a Senior Adviser in the Council of Economic Advisors (CEA), a strategic advisory role.
