Marsabit PWDs Decry Exclusion from Government Services, Demand Inclusive Infrastructure

Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Marsabit County have voiced serious concerns regarding the persistent difficulties they face in accessing essential government services. The group attributes these challenges primarily to a lack of inclusivity in public infrastructure throughout the county.
In a plea to the government, the group urged authorities to prioritize the design and construction of all buildings, encompassing both government offices and residential premises, to be fully accessible for persons with disabilities.
Their demands include the universal implementation of features such as ramps, wider access points, and other crucial assistive facilities.
Furthermore, the PWD advocacy group highlighted the critical need for equitable access to proper washrooms and sanitation facilities specifically tailored to their requirements.
They emphasized that the current situation "denies them dignity and basic rights," underscoring the profound impact of inadequate infrastructure on their daily lives and overall well-being.
