Police in Kiambu County have launched a manhunt for a suspect linked to the killing of two workers and the injury of another at a construction site in Mugumo Drive Estate, Kiambu Town.
The suspect has been identified as Moses Kigera, who allegedly escaped from the scene after the incident. Detectives have since started investigations and are pursuing leads to locate him.
According to police reports, the incident happened at an ongoing construction site where the victims were working as caretakers. The victims and the suspect were known to each other and had reportedly been working together.
Police were alerted after one of the workers who survived the incident raised the alarm. Officers later arrived at the site and secured the area as they began collecting evidence.
Two workers were found dead at the scene, while another worker sustained serious injuries during the attack. The injured victim was rushed to Kiambu Level 5 Hospital for treatment.
The bodies of the deceased were moved to the Kiambu Level 5 Hospital Mortuary pending post-mortem examinations. The examinations are expected to help provide more details on the circumstances of their deaths.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) joined the investigation as officers processed the crime scene and gathered information from witnesses.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the killings may have been linked to a work-related dispute. Police are, however, yet to establish the confirmed motive behind the attack.
Reports indicate that Kigera had previously been dismissed from his position at the construction site and that one of the deceased workers had replaced him. Investigators are treating the information as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Police recovered items believed to be connected to the incident as they continued gathering evidence. The findings will form part of the case file once investigations are completed.
Authorities have intensified efforts to trace the suspect and have appealed to members of the public with information on his whereabouts to report to the police.
The incident has raised concerns over workplace disputes and the need for peaceful resolution of conflicts among workers. Security agencies continue to investigate similar cases involving violence arising from personal disagreements.
Police have said investigations are still ongoing and that further action will be taken once the suspect is arrested and sufficient evidence gathered for possible prosecution.
