DP Kindiki Pledges Administrative Upgrades and Youth Jobs During Machakos Tour

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has emphasized that the surest path toward forging lasting national unity in Kenya lies in a steadfast commitment to ensuring all parts of the country receive government services equally and unconditionally. Speaking during a public sensitization forum held at Kithimani in Yatta Constituency, Machakos County, the Deputy President outlined major infrastructure, water, and market projects driving the Kenya Kwanza administration's nation-wide transformation agenda.
Addressing residents and regional leaders, Kindiki affirmed that national development must transcend political affiliation, religion, or region. He reiterated that every taxpayer deserves an equal share of national resources, adding that government initiatives are meant to uplift all citizens without political bias or discrimination.
The Deputy President highlighted massive road construction initiatives currently underway, noting that out of 6,000 kilometers of roads being constructed across Kenya, Machakos County accounts for 517 kilometers. Within Yatta Constituency, this infrastructure network includes the crucial 40-kilometer Matuu–Ikombe–Katangi road and the 44-kilometer Matuu–Ekalakala road, both designed to facilitate trade and movement.
To bolster local economic activity, the government is delivering 600 fresh produce markets nationwide, with 17 allocated to Machakos County. In Yatta Constituency, construction works at the Kithimani and Katangi markets are actively ongoing, promising clean, modern trading environments for small-scale traders and farmers.
On water delivery and food security, Kindiki detailed major investments aimed at transforming the arid and semi-arid landscapes of Lower Eastern. These include the 800 million shilling NYS–Matuu–Kitui water project, the 150 million shilling Kisiiki Irrigation Project, and the prioritized Yatta Dam Project, all forming part of a comprehensive nationwide water delivery plan.
The Deputy President emphasized that the administration's primary focus remains fulfilling its promises and laying down a concrete track record of service delivery. He remarked that political competition should center on developmental policy, job creation, and service delivery rather than divisive rhetoric or empty promises.
Reflecting on national cohesion, Kindiki stressed that every Kenyan should feel at home in any corner of the country, whether in Western, Coast, Garissa, Meru, or Yatta. He urged citizens to embrace unity, reminding the audience that regardless of political stance—whether supporting the government or the opposition—national security, stability, and peace remain paramount.
Firmly condemning political violence and disorder, the Deputy President drew a distinct line between healthy political debate and destructive unrest. He warned against the misuse of young people to cause chaotic demonstrations or destroy hard-earned private property, such as small businesses and supermarkets built through years of sweat and sacrifice.
Kindiki assured local leadership that their community development requests are being addressed, including support for community-built projects and places of worship. He underscored that anti-corruption efforts and servant leadership are fundamental to ensuring that taxpayers’ funds reach intended community projects directly.
Addressing administrative efficiency, the Deputy President noted progress on establishing requested sub-counties in the region to bring administrative services closer to the people. He assured residents that national security officials and relevant ministries are finishing the process as recommended by local leadership and the administration.
On youth empowerment and civil services, Kindiki encouraged young people to visit Huduma Centers to acquire national identification cards. Obtaining official registration, he noted, is an essential gateway to accessing government employment programs, voter registration, and broader civic participation.
The forum also highlighted government-backed youth employment drives, with plans underway between the national leadership and local representatives to secure employment opportunities for local youth. The Deputy President assured residents that completing the local Huduma Center will further streamline civic services, job applications, and business registrations.
During the engagement, local leaders raised key developmental needs for the region, pledging to work together across political divides to ensure project completion. Kindiki praised the constructive partnership between national government cabinet members and constituency representatives in driving local progress.
The Kithimani public sensitization gathering brought together senior national and local leaders. In attendance were Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome, Lands Principal Secretary Nixon Korir, Yatta Member of Parliament Robert Basil, and Masinga Member of Parliament Joshua Mwalyo.
Members of County Assembly (MCAs), administrative officials, and hundreds of local residents also attended the rally, voicing their support for ongoing developmental programs across Machakos County.
The Deputy President concluded his visit by reiterating that the national government will remain focused on delivering infrastructure, security, and economic opportunities across all 47 counties, building a secure, peaceful, and united Kenya for future generations.
