A total of 965,501 candidates took the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE 2024 examinations in 10,755 centres countrywide.
This is an increase from the 903138 candidates who sat last year's examinations.
The examinations started with practical and oral tests in elective subjects like French, German, Kenyan Sign Language, and music.
KNEC has implemented a number of new guidelines to ensure the integrity and efficiency of the examinations, which include personalization of examination papers, where each candidate shall have his or her unique examination paper to minimize cheating and make the process fair, and rotation of supervisors in different examination rooms to increase supervision and avoid collusion.
Besides, invigilators have also been barred from using mobile phones during the examination period so as to maintain examination security.
Now, the KNEC calls upon all stakeholders, including candidates, teachers, and parents, for observation of guidelines and regulations concerning the examination process for smooth and successful processes.
This year's KCSE 2024 examinations are set to run from October 22 and end on November 22.
